Brands are a valuable business asset that need to be protected and can be exploited for financial gain.
Protecting your brand
If you are looking to develop a brand, we can help to give you clear advice on the use of your intended brand. Our advice has two elements:
- can you use a brand name/logo without infringing someone else’s rights?
- if the brand is clear for use, we advise on the possibility of protecting such brands with trade mark registrations.
This often involves working with trademark agents, both in and outside the UK and we have developed strong relationships with a number of agents who form part of our partner network.
Exploiting your brand
We can then help you to exploit your brand through licensing and sponsorship deals that will see your brand used alongside other goods, services, events, teams etc.
These agreements need to be carefully drafted to make sure it is very clear what branding rights are being given, to control use of the brand and to ensure correct payment. We have a lot of experience advising on such agreements.
We have recently advised on branding deals for Morgan Motor Company, Rick Stein and Endsleigh Insurance.
