Shareholder disputes

Making your business operate more effectively

Running companies can be challenging. Unfortunately sometimes shareholders or boards of directors cease to function effectively. Not only can this be stressful for the individuals involved but it can have a detrimental impact on the business.

Our aim is to prevent these issues arising in the first place.  Sometimes this means we recommend putting in place sensible shareholder agreements and having proper corporate governance. However, more than this we give advice which is practical and encourages collaboration and minimises the risk of confrontation.

Where this isn’t possible, we aim to help boards and shareholders diffuse tensions and difficulties. We do this by encouraging people to listen and interact and by thinking laterally for solutions. If there is a place for straight talking or frank advice, we are not afraid to do this.

Although we don’t give advice in relation to litigation or formal dispute resolution, sometimes this is the right course of action. We can ensure that the right advice is given through our partner network.
